Dear Pet friends,

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Szentendre is a non profit-organisation, the costs for the realization and operation of the animal shelter are covered by the individual voluntary sponsors, as well as by the money coming from tenders announced for self-organised NGOs. Because the shelter has a reduced source of funds, our regular co-workers are unfortunately few in number, the staff responsible for the everyday tasks in the shelter and the adequate regular animal handling is really overloaded.

We are waiting for pet friend volunteers, both individuals and firms who could help us with the work in our shelter with certain regularity. We really need volunteers and voluntary work!

Possible tasks:

- taking dogs on a lead for a walk in the area round the animal shelter

- cleaning the home of cats

- gardening and weeding in the inner-area and the area next to the animal shelter

- active help at programmes

- temporary reception and care

- photocopying, computer work, bill-sticking

- regular updating of our homepage, creating a new website (possibly)

- translation into German or English

Be our volunteer if you accept our request with sympathy!

Being helped by volunteers we will be able to do a lot more and this way we will be more effective for the sake of the abandoned animals. A great number of people have always taken part in voluntary work in their free time, but nowadays in the daily struggle for earning your living there is little time left for free time activities.

You can contact us at:

How can I help?

Aim of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Szentendre named Árvácska is the constant operation of a cultivated animal shelter, first of all for abandoned dogs and occasionally for cats, the search for new responsible masters/mistresses, as well as taking steps against cruelty to animals. Because of the reduced source of funds of the shelter our regular co-workers are unfortunately few in number, so we badly need the helpful work and moral support of volunteers in doing the everyday tasks in the shelter as well as the adequate regular animal handling.
